The Gay Culverhouse Players' Outreach Program, Inc. (GCPOP), is here to assist former National Football League players in securing benefits they may be entitled to receive. If the player needs help in applying for his benefits, has been denied benefits, or needs additional assistance and information, please contact us at info@playersoutreach.org or call 877-427-6744. If a player was injured during a game or a practice, and/or has been required to play under adverse conditions, please call GCPOP at 877-427-6744 or send a message to info@playersoutreach.org. There are several programs administered by the National Football League to which the player may be entitled to apply. Click here for more information on all the benefits the NFL offers and read below for a quick summary of a few of the benefit programs.
The 88 Plan If the player has loss of memory, attention, speaking, coordination, problem-solving, or shows signs of dementia, they may qualify for the 88 Plan benefit. To obtain forms for the 88 Plan, call the NFL at 800-638-3186.
Bert Bell/Pete Rozelle NFL Player Retirement Plan The Bert Bell/Pete Rozelle NFL Player Retirement Plan provides eligible NFL players with pension and disability benefits and offers survivor benefits for their family. To obtain forms, call the NFL at 800-638-3186.
NFL Player Care Foundation This program is designed to assist vested players with health care and quality of life, life insurance, spine care, joint repair, assisted living, and prescription drug benefits. To obtain forms, call the NFL at 800-635-4625.
NFL Alumni Dire Need Fund The Dire Need Fund helps vested NFL players, coaches, and their families with life necessities, such as mortgages, including second mortgages, car loans and rent. To obtain forms for the NFL Alumni Dire Need Fund, call the NFL at 800-878-5437.
Gene Upshaw Player Assistance Fund The Gene Upshaw Player Assistance Fund provides financial assistance to former professional and amateur players and their families in times of crisis. To obtain forms, contact the NFL at 800-638-3186.
